Nigeria Proposes Cybersecurity Coordination Council

The Federal Government of Nigeria is taking significant steps to strengthen the country's cybersecurity architecture by proposing the establishment of a Cybersecurity Coordination Council. This initiative aims to enhance collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders to effectively respond to emerging cyber threats.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, emphasized that cybersecurity is a collective responsibility that requires sustained cooperation among various stakeholders.

The proposed council will serve as a central platform to drive coordinated responses to cyber threats and improve information sharing. The minister noted that safeguarding Nigeria's rapidly growing digital economy necessitates strong partnerships and trust among government institutions, industry operators, and civil society organizations.

This initiative reflects the Federal Government's broader policy direction aimed at fostering inclusive stakeholder engagement to address cyber risks and strengthen the nation's capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber incidents.
