Athletes to Arrive Asaba Today for 9th National Youth Games

Athletes from different parts of the country are set to arrive in Asaba, Delta State today for the 9th National Youth Games. This marks the third consecutive time that Delta State is hosting the Games, with the University of Ilorin having hosted it five times in the past.

The registration meetings for the Games began on August 21 and ended on August 24, leading up to the official commencement of the Games. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, August 29, with the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Malam Shehu Dikko, expected to declare the event open on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

Team Delta, which has consistently topped the medal table, is expected to be announced as the delegation for the 2025 NYG. The organizing committees have been actively ensuring that all facilities and venues meet the required standards for a successful event.
