Atiku Abubakar Calls for Emergency on Nigeria's Security

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and a member of the African Democratic Congress, has urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency on security in Nigeria. He expressed his concerns over the worsening state of insecurity, particularly in light of recent terrorist and bandit attacks that have claimed lives and disrupted education.

His statement, conveyed through his media aide Paul Ibe, highlighted a recent attack in Kogi State where three individuals, including the vice principal of a secondary school, were killed, and several students were abducted. Abubakar noted that a total of not less than 90 school children were abducted on May 15 in Oyo State, and he emphasized the need for the government to empower security forces to act decisively against these threats.

He advocated for a proactive approach to combat insecurity without political interference, stressing the importance of protecting the educational sector from further attacks.
