Atiku Abubakar Calls for Action on Nigeria's Insecurity

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and a member of the African Democratic Congress, called on the Federal Government to focus on tackling insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria. In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, on Thursday, Atiku reacted to recent comments by President Bola Tinubu regarding Nigeria's borrowing profile.

He emphasized that the country's borrowing levels are lower than those of other African countries but expressed concern over the disconnect between government statistics and the harsh realities faced by ordinary Nigerians. Atiku pointed out the rising food prices, inflation, and business challenges that have made it difficult for many Nigerians to afford basic necessities.

He criticized the government's approach to borrowing, stating that it should be directed towards productive investments that improve infrastructure and create jobs. Atiku urged the Tinubu administration to confront the economic and security challenges facing the nation with urgency, rather than relying on propaganda.
