Atiku Abubakar Urges Action Against Rising Violence in Nigeria

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned the increasing violent attacks across the country, describing the threat to Nigeria's peace and unity as significant. In a statement shared on his official X account on Saturday, he denounced the continued acts of terror and violence against innocent citizens, extending condolences to victims and affected communities.

Abubakar called on the government to intensify efforts to address the security crisis, emphasizing that it is the foremost responsibility of the government to protect lives and property. He acknowledged the support of state governments in the fight against terror and stressed the need for sustained international cooperation.

His statement comes amid a fresh wave of deadly attacks, including a coordinated assault in Borno State that resulted in the death of soldiers, including a Brigadier General. Other incidents included attacks in Kaduna and Benue states, leading to multiple fatalities and abductions, highlighting the persistent insurgent threats from groups like Boko Haram and its splinter factions.
