The African Democratic Congress (ADC) clarified that Amaechi's candidacy is confirmed, and he will be officially unveiled as the vice presidential candidate shortly after his return from a business trip. The ADC aims to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

The announcement of Amaechi as Atiku's running mate was made on June 15, 2026, following extensive consultations with party stakeholders and coalition partners.
