Nigerian ATM transactions surged to N36.34 trillion in the first half of 2025, a sharp rise of 197.66% from the same period in 2024, despite the introduction of new withdrawal fees by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The data from CBN's quarterly bulletin indicates a robust cash usage trend among Nigerians, with 858.80 million ATM withdrawals recorded in the first half of 2025.

The increase in transaction volume reflects a growing demand for cash access, even with higher charges in place.
