Australia Sets Conditions for Student Visa Cancellation

Australia's Department of Home Affairs has published guidelines detailing three conditions that can lead to the cancellation of a foreign student's visa. The primary condition is if the student is no longer enrolled in a registered course.

Enrolment is deemed to have ended once a student completes their course, which may occur before the date on their Confirmation of Enrolment. Students who finish their course have three months to either leave Australia or apply for a different visa.

If a student switches courses and the new Confirmation of Enrolment has an earlier end date, they have only 28 days to take action. Additionally, students enrolled in multiple courses must ensure that gaps between courses do not exceed two months, except between academic years.

Visa cancellation is not automatic; officials will assess individual circumstances, including academic performance and the legitimacy of course completion. Students are advised to verify their visa conditions using the Visa Entitlement Verification Online system.
