Australia Sets Conditions for Subclass 101 Child Visa

The Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs has released the eligibility conditions for the Subclass 101 Child visa, which permits children living outside Australia to join their parents permanently. This visa is designated for dependent children whose parent is an Australian citizen, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or a holder of an Australian permanent visa.

To qualify for the Subclass 101 visa, applicants must meet four specific conditions: they must be a dependent child of a qualifying parent, be under 18 years of age or between 18 and 24 years old and enrolled as a full-time student financially dependent on the parent, be single and financially dependent on the sponsoring parent, and be outside Australia at the time of application. The conditions require full compliance, with no room for partial adherence.

The age provision for students is particularly relevant for Nigerian families with children studying abroad. The disability clause allows adult children unable to work due to a medical condition to qualify.
