Australia Sets Conditions for Work and Holiday Visa

Australia has established six essential conditions for foreigners seeking the Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462), which permits individuals aged 18 to 30 to live, work, and travel in Australia for an extended period. The visa is available to citizens from 30 countries, excluding any African nations.

Applicants must hold a valid passport from an eligible country and be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application. The application deadline is midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time the day before the applicant's 31st birthday.

Previous holders of the Work and Holiday visa or Working Holiday visa are ineligible. Proof of functional English proficiency is required, with automatic qualification for citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and the Republic of Ireland.

Other applicants may demonstrate proficiency through education or approved English tests. Additionally, applicants must show sufficient funds (approximately AUD5,000) for their stay and onward travel.

Specific countries must provide a government support letter, and citizens of China, India, and Vietnam must undergo a pre-application ballot process.
