Kingslei Okafor's "Avante" Premieres in Abuja

The film "Avante," directed by Toka McBaror, premiered on Sunday night at Silverbird Galleria in Abuja, with Kingslei Okafor starring in the lead role. Okafor described the film as a “Hypothetical Presumption of Reality,” focusing on moral dilemmas faced by individuals in difficult situations.

The plot centers on a son seeking vengeance for his father's murder while navigating complex relationships, including falling in love with the daughter of his father's killer. The film features a cast that includes Chimezi Imo, Patience Ujah, Eddi Walker, Maliya Michael, and Ruth Nkweti.

The narrative also includes a secondary storyline involving Kelechi Lago, a hustler entangled in a power struggle with a businesswoman. Okafor emphasized the film's high-stakes moral gray areas and its unique approach to the revenge genre, aiming to engage Nigerian audiences with its blend of action and ethical questions.

The film is set for an Easter release, testing Nollywood's ability to merge commercial appeal with deeper moral inquiries.
