Nigerian Players Seek Revival After Tough 2025/26 Season

Nigerian footballers are aiming to revive their fortunes in the new season following a difficult 2025/26 campaign characterized by injuries and inconsistent performances. Taiwo Awoniyi, playing for Nottingham Forest, scored only once in 26 Premier League appearances, causing his market value to drop from €16 million to €8 million.

Samuel Chukwueze, on loan from AC Milan to Fulham, managed three goals and four assists in 20 appearances but returned to Serie A after Fulham declined to make the move permanent. Ademola Lookman saw a significant decline in his performance, scoring just three goals and providing two assists after a successful previous season with Atalanta.
