Bahrain Sets Conditions for Expatriate Children's Residency Permits

Bahrain's Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has announced five specific conditions that expatriate workers must meet for their children to be granted a Dependants Residency Permit. The conditions include: 1) The applicant must be registered in the LMRA system as an authorized party on the relevant Commercial Registration or Unit. 2) The expatriate employee must have a monthly net income of at least BHD 400, as verified by the Social Insurance Organisation. 3) If the worker's children are already in Bahrain on a visit visa or another permit, that permit must be valid at the time of application. 4) Dependants with a previous personal number must use that same number for their residency permit request. 5) For children born in Bahrain or those with new passports issued in the country, a new file must be opened or existing records updated with the Nationality Passports and Residency Affairs (NPRA) before applying.

Applications are processed within three working days, or up to seven working days through cooperative entities. Children over 24 are not eligible for this service.
