Ballon d'Or Ceremony Moves to London for 2023 Event

The Ballon d'Or ceremony has been moved to London after 11 years of being held in France. The event is scheduled for October 26, 2023, and will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the prestigious award in the history of world football.

London was chosen as the host city for the first time in the award's history. The first winner of the Ballon d'Or in 1956 was Sir Stanley Matthews.

The last ceremony held outside France was in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2010, with the event returning to France from 2016 to 2022. The award was previously merged with FIFA's award from 2010 to 2015 but has since been independently organized by France Football.

UEFA, the governing body of European football, co-organizes the award from 2024 onward. Current winners include Ousmane Dembélé from Paris Saint-Germain and Aitana Bonmatí from FC Barcelona.
