Prominent Zamfara businessman Alhaji Bello Gwamnati killed

Alhaji Bello Gwamnati, a well-known businessman in Zamfara state, was killed by suspected bandits on Wednesday evening along the Birnin Magaji – Kaura Namoda road. The attack occurred as he was returning from Birnin Magaji market, where armed bandits opened fire on his vehicle, resulting in his immediate death.

In addition to Gwamnati's death, several other occupants of the car were abducted. Family sources revealed that Gwamnati was a significant figure in Kaura Namoda town, known for supporting over 50 people under his care and recognized as a generous philanthropist.

His death has led to widespread mourning within the community. His funeral prayer (Jana’iza) is scheduled for today.

This incident highlights the increasing insecurity on rural highways in Zamfara state, where attacks on traders and travelers persist despite ongoing military operations. As of the report's filing, police authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the attack or the number of abducted individuals.
