Baobab Microfinance Bank Launches Menstrual Hygiene Project

Baobab Microfinance Bank has launched a menstrual hygiene awareness project in Ilorin, Kwara State, aimed at addressing the menstrual health challenges faced by adolescent girls in low-income communities across Nigeria. The bank distributed 500 reusable sanitary pads to carefully selected beneficiaries in two schools, emphasizing a serious commitment to improving menstrual health rather than merely engaging in tokenistic gestures.

The initiative is a partnership with Sana Pad, a female-owned enterprise based in Kano that focuses on sustainable menstrual health solutions. The project aims to provide reliable protection for schoolgirls, significantly reducing the long-term cost burden on families already facing financial strain.

Baobab Microfinance Bank's Chief Business Development Officer stated that the bank is committed to making a genuine impact in the community, leveraging grassroots organizations to establish trust and identify the specific needs of schoolgirls.
