ADC Names Kantiok as Ashiru's Running Mate for 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Kaduna State, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has unveiled Barrister Irmiya Ishaku Kantiok as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election. Ashiru described Kantiok as a “battle-tested” leader, emphasizing his experience, competence, and integrity.

Kantiok has served three terms in the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zonkwa Constituency. Ashiru announced this nomination via a statement on his X account, highlighting the duo's commitment to good governance and inclusive development.

He stated, “Together, we will forge a united Kaduna State,” aiming for a prosperous future. Ashiru emerged as the ADC candidate in May 2023, winning the party's primary election with 86,113 votes, defeating Jafaru Sani, who received 29,580 votes, among others.

Ashiru has previously contested the governorship elections in 2019 and 2023 under the PDP, losing both times to Nasir El-Rufai and Uba Sani, respectively.
