Bauchi Govt Approves Six-Month Maternity Leave for Nursing Mothers

Bauchi State Government approved a six-month maternity leave for nursing mothers to ensure newborns receive optimal care. The State Executive Council granted the approval during an extraordinary meeting, extending the leave from four to six months across all ministries, departments, and agencies.

Additionally, a crèche center will be established in government offices to enable nursing mothers to safely keep their babies while at work. The State Head of Civil Service, Barr Mohammed Sani Umar, explained that lactating mothers are entitled to the extended leave from the date of delivery, with provisions for daily care of the baby upon resumption.
