PRP Candidate Shehu Umar Submits to Security Investigation

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, the Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and current representative of Bauchi South Senatorial District, has voluntarily submitted himself to security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Nigeria Police Force, for investigation over allegations linking him to banditry, terrorism financing, and kidnapping. At a press conference on Monday in Bauchi, Umar stated that these allegations are not new, having first emerged in 2014 and previously debunked.

He challenged anyone with evidence against him to present it to the authorities and expressed his readiness for legitimate investigation. Umar's legal team, led by former Nigerian Bar Association President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, has formally requested a comprehensive investigation.

He also mentioned ongoing legal actions against individuals spreading false allegations and referenced petitions submitted to the Nigeria Police Force and Interpol. Umar, who aims to contest the 2027 governorship election, believes the allegations are politically motivated to tarnish his reputation.
