Bayelsa Deputy Governor Drags Assembly and IGP to Court Over Impeachment Plot

The Bayelsa Deputy Governor has filed a lawsuit against the State House of Assembly and the Inspector General of Police in Abuja, alleging an impeachment plot due to refusal to resign following pressure from the People Democratic Party (PDP). The lawsuit seeks to restrain the defendants from initiating impeachment proceedings against him, arguing that his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not warrant removal.

The court has directed the defendants to appear and explain why interim injunctions should not be granted, with a hearing scheduled for November 13.
