Bayelsa Deputy Governor Resists Impeachment Plot, Takes Assembly to Court

Bayelsa Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is resisting pressure to defect from the PDP despite an alleged impeachment plot by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. Ewhrudjakpo has filed a case in the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the move, claiming it is politically motivated to maintain loyalty to the party.

The court has ordered the Assembly to explain the impeachment plan, with a hearing scheduled for November 13. Meanwhile, Governor Douye Diri recently defected to the APC, adding to the political tension in the state.
