Bayelsa Aims for Third Title at 2026 Para Sports Festival

Bayelsa State has arrived in Abuja to compete in the 2026 National Para Sports Festival, with a strong contingent of 244 athletes and 58 support staff. The state aims to secure its third consecutive national title, having won the previous two editions of the festival.

Baraladei Daniel Igali, the Commissioner for Sports Development, expressed confidence in the team's readiness and commended the leadership that has facilitated the successful mobilization of the contingent. He acknowledged the efforts of Andrew Ay, the Acting Director of Sports, in ensuring the athletes' travel and comfort arrangements.

Governor Douy Diri has charged the team to reciprocate the immense support from the administration by delivering outstanding performances. The leadership emphasizes the importance of equal treatment for para-athletes, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and respect for all athletes.

The festival is expected to showcase Bayelsa's strong tradition in para sports, with high morale and proven pedigree.
