FG Urges States to Lead Cooperative Digital Rollout

On August 11, 2026, in Abuja, the Federal Government convened a National Technical Workshop on Cooperative Sector Digitalization, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security in collaboration with Seamfix Limited. Sen. Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Security and Supervising Minister of Cooperative Affairs, charged State Directors of Cooperatives from the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be "Frontline Implementers, not spectators" in the rollout of the National Cooperative Smart Registry (NCSR).

The workshop aimed to transition from "Reform Conversations to Reform Implementation" under the Renewed Hope Cooperative Reform & Revamp Programme (RH-CRRP 2030). Sen. Abdullahi emphasized the importance of digitalization in addressing identity and data gaps within the cooperative sector, which will enable better planning, financing, and regulation.

He outlined the roles of the Cooperative Verification Number (CVN) and Cooperative Member Identification Number (CoopID) in enhancing cooperative governance and urged participants to engage actively in the process.
