FG Charges State Directors on National Cooperative Registry

The federal government of Nigeria has charged the State Directors of Cooperatives from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja to lead the rollout of the National Cooperative Smart Registry (NCSR). This directive was issued by Sen. Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Security and Supervising Minister of Cooperative Affairs, during the National Technical Workshop on Cooperative Sector Digitalisation held on Wednesday in Abuja.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with Seamfix Limited, aims to transition from "Reform Conversations to Reform Implementation" under the Renewed Hope Cooperative Reform & Revamp Programme (RH-CRRP) 2030. Abdullahi emphasized that the federal government cannot achieve successful digitalization from Abuja alone and urged the directors to engage actively in the process.

He explained that the NCSR, along with the Cooperative Verification Number (CVN) and Cooperative Member Identification Number (CoopID), will enable better identification, verification, financing, and regulation of cooperatives. Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, noted that the digital infrastructure being developed will facilitate transparent delivery of input subsidies and credit interventions.
