Beckham Praises Cape Verde's Courage in World Cup Exit
David Beckham, the former England captain, paid tribute to Cape Verde following their heartbreaking exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dramatic 3-2 extra time defeat to defending champions Argentina. Beckham described Cape Verde's campaign as one that earned respect from the entire football world, despite their elimination.
The match was noted as one of the tournament's most memorable, with Cape Verde pushing Argentina to their limits. Beckham praised the team's courage and determination, particularly highlighting the performance of veteran goalkeeper Vozinha, who made outstanding saves to frustrate Argentina.
He also commended players Derói Duarte and Sidni Lope Cabral for their fearless display. Beckham asserted that Cape Verde's journey in the tournament should be seen as an inspiration rather than a failure, marking their campaign as a significant achievement for the nation and a demonstration of their emerging status in global football.
