Benfica Sets €15M Price for Mourinho to Join Madrid

Benfica has announced that Real Madrid must pay a release clause of €15 million to secure the services of coach José Mourinho. This confirmation came on Thursday, following statements from Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, who expressed his desire to bring Mourinho back to the Bernabéu, where he previously managed from 2010 to 2013.

During his tenure, Mourinho won one La Liga title, a Copa del Rey, and a Spanish Super Cup. Pérez is reportedly looking to Mourinho to restore discipline within the team, especially after a second consecutive season without major trophies.

Mourinho is currently leading Benfica, having joined the club in September 2025, and has maintained an unbeaten league season, although the team finished third that year. The release clause was confirmed amid previous media reports suggesting a lower cost of around €3 million.
