Benin and Togo Owe Nigeria for Electricity Supply, NERC Report Reveals Debt

Benin and Togo have failed to fully pay Nigeria for electricity supplied in the second quarter of 2025, according to a report by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The report revealed that the two countries owe Nigeria a significant amount, with Togo's Compagnie Energie Electrique du Togo (CEET) failing to settle its bill.

Despite some payments made by Niger and Benin's Société Béninoise Énergie Électrique (SBEE), outstanding balances remain. The situation underscores the challenges faced by Nigeria in receiving full payments for electricity exports to neighboring countries.
