JAMB Clarifies Misidentification of Kidnapped Travelers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), represented by spokesman Dr. Fabian Benjamin, addressed the recent kidnapping incident involving travelers in Benue State.

JAMB clarified that the individuals who were kidnapped were not candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as previously reported. Instead, they were returning to Otukpo after participating in a police recruitment exercise.

JAMB expressed relief that all seven individuals were successfully rescued and criticized the rush to tarnish the board's image without verifying facts. The board emphasized that no Nigerian should be subjected to kidnapping and condemned the tendency to malign governmental institutions based on unverified claims.

JAMB also highlighted the need for responsible information dissemination and the importance of verifying facts before drawing conclusions. The board remains committed to its mandate and aims to uphold global operational standards despite unwarranted criticism.
