Benue State Investigates Suspected Mpox Case

Benue State's Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Paul Ogwuche, announced an investigation into a suspected Mpox case at Tyokula Achihi Residence in Korinya city, Konshisha LGA.

He confirmed that no Mpox outbreak has been verified in the state. Following reports on social media, the ministry activated its disease surveillance system, directing the Director of Public Health to collaborate with the State Epidemiologist.

The Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer (DSNO) for Konshisha was deployed to conduct field investigations, assess the suspected case, and collect clinical samples for laboratory testing. Dr.

Ogwuche emphasized that laboratory analysis is ongoing and reassured residents that symptoms like fever, skin rashes, and blisters could arise from various medical conditions. He urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and report any symptoms to health facilities.

The commissioner commended the public for timely reporting and assured that the investigation's findings would be disclosed promptly.
