Support Urged for Displaced Yelwata Children in Benue

Retired Major General Patrick Akem Vingir is advocating for support for 400 children who survived an attack on RCM Primary School in Yelwata, Benue State, where 260 individuals, including women and children, were killed on June 13, 2025. Vingir, an alumnus of the school, highlighted the dire educational conditions faced by these children, who require psychosocial support and adequate learning materials.

He called for urgent intervention from various organizations, including the Dangote Group, TY Danjuma Foundation, and several banks, to provide necessary resources such as qualified teachers, textbooks, desks, chairs, uniforms, and scholarships. Vingir emphasized that neglecting these children would cost the nation its future, urging the community and international organizations to invest in their education and well-being.
