Celebrating Professor Biodun Jeyifo's Academic Legacy

Professor Biodun Jeyifo, who first met in February 1979 at the University of Ife, is recognized as a significant philosopher and activist in Nigeria. He graduated in 1984 from the University of Ibadan with first-class honors in English and later obtained a doctorate in dramatic literature from New York University in 1975.

Jeyifo became a prominent lecturer at the University of Ife and was actively involved in the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), advocating for better welfare for university lecturers. He is known for his Marxist literary criticism and has contributed to various Nigerian newspapers, including The Guardian and The Nation.
