Celebrated Scholar Biodun Jeyifo Passes at 80

Biodun Jeyifo, a prominent figure in African literature and a revolutionary humanist, passed away on January 4, 2023, just before his 80th birthday on January 5. He was an emeritus professor at Cornell University and Harvard University, renowned for his radical sociological approach to literature.

Jeyifo's academic journey began at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned a first-class honors degree in literary arts, followed by a Ph.D. from New York University, where he supervised notable figures like Richard Schechner.
