Archbishop Kaigama Urges Forgiveness for National Unity

Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, called on Nigerians to reject vengeance and embrace forgiveness, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence as vital for national development.

This message was conveyed through Rev. Fr.

Richard Igyor at the Pious Union of Saint Rita of Cascia's 2026 National Feast Celebration in Abuja, which attracted over 1,000 attendees. Kaigama highlighted the virtues of Saint Rita, particularly forgiveness and commitment to peace, as crucial for Nigeria, which is facing insecurity and social divisions.

He encouraged Nigerians to deepen their relationship with God and let the values of peace and love guide their actions. Cecilia Oyakhire, the Prior General of the Pious Union, urged women to play a significant role in promoting peace and moral values within their families.

Dr. Ukura Samuel, the Abuja Archdiocese National Grand Patron of the Pious Union, called on political leaders to emulate Saint Rita’s spirit of forgiveness and selfless service.
