Phyna Makes History by Winning Nigeria's First Female Celebrity Boxing Match
The "Chaos in the Ring" boxing event, organized by Balmoral Promotions, took place on October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of an Independence Day special. The event quickly transformed from structured celebrity exhibition bouts into chaotic brawls.
Appah faced Freezy in an aggressive match that ended with Freezy dethroning Appah. Following this, Carter Efe and Speed Darlington engaged in a comedic bout, with Efe eventually declared the winner.
The night culminated in a highly anticipated match between Nkechi Blessing and Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor. Their rivalry led to an intense fight where Phyna knocked out Nkechi Blessing, marking the first female celebrity boxing bout in Nigeria's history.
The event was characterized by its unscripted chaos, with the ring becoming a significant piece of pop-culture history by midnight.
