Supreme Court Upholds Maryam Sanda's Death Sentence for Husband's Murder

The Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Maryam Sanda for the culpable homicide of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, during a domestic dispute in 2017. The judgment, delivered by Justice Moor Adumein, affirmed that the prosecution had proven the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sanda's appeal was dismissed as without merit, with the court maintaining the decision of the trial court. This ruling comes after the Court of Appeal and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory had also upheld the death sentence.

Sanda's sentence was previously reduced to 12 years but has now been reinstated as death by hanging.
