Maryam Sanda's Death Sentence Commuted to 12 Years Imprisonment by President Tinubu

Maryam Sanda, convicted of culpable homicide and initially sentenced to death in January 2020, has had her sentence reduced to 12 years imprisonment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on compassionate grounds. The decision was based on her model prison behavior and embracing a new life.

The Federal Ministry of Justice, represented by Lateef Fagbemi, also indicated that four other Nigerian death row convicts had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment. This move reflects a commitment to justice reform and human correction practices in Nigeria.
