Bank of Agriculture Distributes Inputs to 500,000 Farmers

The Bank of Agriculture has initiated the distribution of agricultural inputs, including maize seeds and fertilizers, to 500,000 smallholder farmers across Nigeria. This program, flagged off in Karau Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State, is part of the federal government's efforts to strengthen food security and improve rural livelihoods.

The initiative, disclosed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ayo Sotinrin, aims to support farmers in cultivating 520,000 hectares of farmland, with an expected output of at least 2.6 million tons of food. The program has already made significant progress, financing nearly 200,000 farmers and distributing 1.8 million bags of fertilizer and 329,000 bags of high-yield seeds.

The initiative reflects President Bola Tinubu's commitment to promoting inclusive agricultural development and aims to alleviate the burden of procuring expensive farm inputs for smallholder farmers.
