Jonathan Challenges Perception of Boko Haram Complexity

Former President Goodluck Jonathan revealed that the Boko Haram insurgency is more intricate than commonly believed, stating that even his successor, late President Muhammadu Buhari, struggled to defeat the group. Jonathan disclosed this during a public presentation in Abuja while discussing the book "Scars" by former Chief Defence Staff Lucky Irabor.

He mentioned setting up committees to explore dialogue with the insurgents, including one where Boko Haram nominated Buhari as their preferred negotiator. Jonathan emphasized the need for a broader, unconventional approach to understanding the insurgency, highlighting the complexity of the situation beyond a single narrative.
