Victor Boniface Returns to Werder Bremen Squad After Injury

Victor Boniface has made his return to the Werder Bremen squad following a knee surgery that had sidelined him. He was included on the bench for Bremen's 1-1 draw against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

The 26-year-old striker has not made a competitive appearance for Bremen since December 7, 2025, when he played 11 minutes in a 3-2 defeat to Hamburg. His injury initially seemed to rule him out for the rest of the season, prompting a return to his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, for rehabilitation.

He resumed training with Bremen in late March. Simon Rolf, the sporting director at Bayer Leverkusen, explained that the decision to loan Boniface last summer was aimed at helping him regain full fitness after an injury-disrupted campaign.

Despite his struggles with fitness this season, Rolf maintains that Boniface's quality is not in doubt, attributing his setbacks to the physical demands of elite football and a congested schedule.
