Borno Commissioner Shares Video of Abducted Students

During an education summit in Maiduguri, Borno State, Abba Wakil, the Commissioner for Education, shared a 15-second video as proof of life for students abducted from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area. The incident occurred on June 29, when suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded the school, abducting 36 students and one teacher.

The video, part of a presentation themed "Strengthening Safe and Inclusive Gender-Responsive Education," shows the abducted students seated on the ground in their school uniforms, with two armed terrorists standing behind them holding a flag bearing Arabic inscriptions. Earlier reports indicated that 78 students were still in captivity following a separate abduction incident on May 16.

The Borno State government emphasized that the attack on schools poses a significant threat to education in the state, which must continue to progress despite these challenges.
