BPP DG Advocates for Sustainable Procurement to Enhance Economic Efficiency in Nigeria

Adebowale Adedokun, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), highlighted the critical need for sustainable procurement in Nigeria to enhance economic efficiency, social responsibility, and environmental protection. Adedokun emphasized the role of BPP in policy formulation, regulatory oversight, and compliance to ensure sustainable practices in public procurement.

The event organized by the Sustainable Procurement Environment and Social Standard Center at the University of Lagos focused on aligning national practices with global development goals. Adedokun also outlined the consequences for non-compliance with procurement regulations, including collusive bidding and fraudulent practices, while noting recent reforms that aim to save costs and improve transparency in public spending.
