ADC Urges Supreme Court for Quick Ruling on Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has made an urgent appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria, requesting a swift judgment on an ongoing leadership dispute within the party. In a letter dated April 28, addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the ADC warns that further delays could jeopardize its ability to participate in the 2027 general elections.

The party's lead counsel, Shuaibu Aruwa, emphasized the critical nature of the situation, noting that the absence of a decision has already created uncertainty around the party's leadership structure. The matter was heard on April 22, 2026, but no date has been fixed for the delivery of the judgment.

The ADC argues that without clear leadership, it cannot effectively carry out activities required by electoral law, which could lead to its exclusion from the electoral process. The party highlights the importance of timely judgment, stating that the outcome will significantly affect millions of Nigerians who identify with its platform.
