Supreme Court to Hear ADC Leadership Appeal on April 22

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership appeal on April 22, 2026. This decision follows a March 12, 2026 judgment by the Court of Appeal, which dismissed David Mark's appeal against a September 4, 2025 ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The case involves a leadership crisis within the ADC, where Mark, the party's national chairman, is challenged by Nafiu Bala, who claims to have assumed leadership after Ralph Nwosu's exit. The apex court directed Mark's counsel, Jibril Okutepa, to file and serve the appeal's brief promptly.

The court also struck down a motion to maintain the status quo, indicating readiness to address the appeal directly. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on April 1, 2026, that it would no longer recognize either faction amid the ongoing leadership dispute, further complicating the situation.
