El-Rufai Returns to Court After Mother's Burial Amid Charges

On Tuesday, Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, returned to the Federal High Court following the burial of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt. El-Rufai is currently involved in a trial concerning allegations of financial impropriety.

His appearance in court was under tight security and close monitoring. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had previously granted him temporary release to attend his mother's funeral, although the exact conditions of his bail were not disclosed.

It remains unclear whether he will retain this temporary release or return to ICPC custody pending further court rulings regarding the financial impropriety allegations against him.
