Colonel and Soldiers Killed in Monguno Ambush

On April 13, 2026, a Nigerian Army Colonel identified as Muhammad was killed in an ambush during a military operation in Monguno, Borno State. The ambush was executed by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, who launched a coordinated assault on a military base in Benisheikh.
