Fire Engulfs Gidan Gila Market in Kano, Causing Destruction

A significant fire incident occurred at the Gidan Gila market in Kano, engulfing shops known for selling provisions and resulting in the destruction of multi-million naira worth of goods. Eyewitness reports indicated that thick black smoke billowed into the sky, drawing a large crowd of traders and residents who struggled to save their goods and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and there is no immediate trace of what triggered the outbreak. The Kano State Fire Service responded to the scene with fire trucks, but the firefighting efforts were hampered as the flames continued to rage.

Support from a private tanker, Aspira Nigeria Limited, arrived to assist in extinguishing the fire. Traders and residents expressed concern that the water tanker was insufficient to fully contain the blaze and prevent further destruction.

This incident follows a previous devastating fire at the Singer Market just weeks prior, which had already compounded the hardships faced by business owners in the area. Authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
