Kano Government Warns Traders Against Fraudulent Claims

Following a significant fire disaster at a market in Kano, the Kano State Government, led by Ad Ibrahim, has issued a warning to traders against submitting fraudulent claims for relief funds. The fire resulted in extensive damage, with preliminary assessments indicating losses exceeding N20 billion.

The federal government has pledged N5 billion in support, alongside an additional N3 billion from the Governor's Forum and direct contributions to affected traders. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of transparency in the distribution of relief funds and stated that any attempts to manipulate the process would lead to prosecution.

He highlighted the need for integrity among committee members tasked with managing the funds. The government has created a dedicated account to ensure that donations reach the affected traders, assuring the public of full transparency in fund management.

Ibrahim appealed to Nigerians for support, noting that the scale of destruction far exceeds the funds received so far.
