APC Secures Two-Thirds Majority in House of Reps as Opposition Lawmakers Defect

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has solidified its control in the House of Representatives by securing a two-thirds majority following the defection of six opposition lawmakers, including members from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party. The defections of lawmakers like Daniel Asama Ado and Chidi Mark Obetta from Plateau State, as well as others from Enugu and Imo, have increased the APC's strength to 242 members, leaving the PDP with 74 members.

The defections were attributed to leadership crises within the PDP and divisions within the party, leading to the lawmakers' decision to join the APC. Key figures present during the announcement of the defections included APC's national chairman Prof.
