ASCSN Orders Nationwide Closure of Federal Unity Colleges

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has mandated the immediate closure of all Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) across Nigeria, instructing that students should not resume for the new academic session until further notice. This directive, effective from September 14, 2026, was announced in a statement dated September 11 and signed by ASCSN Chairman Comrade Samson Chigozie Ngadi.

The closure also extends to the offices of the Federal Ministry of Education. The decision follows a congress where ASCSN members expressed their opposition to the planned concession of the unity schools.

The union has stated that it will not be intimidated by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, and has called for strict compliance with the closure directive. ASCSN emphasized that this action is part of a collective struggle against the proposed policy and urged its members to remain committed until their demands are met.
