ASCSN's Shehu Mohammed Continues Strike Over King's College

The strike by a faction of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), led by Shehu Mohammed, persists due to unresolved disputes with the Federal Government regarding the planned concession of King’s College, Lagos. The Federal Ministry of Education had directed students to resume on September 20 for the 2026/2027 academic session, following an original date of September 13.

However, the ASCSN faction has instructed its members to continue the strike until their concerns are addressed, specifically regarding the concession. This decision was communicated in a communiqué after an emergency virtual meeting of zonal coordinators representing all six geopolitical zones and Lagos.

The union rejected claims that the strike had been suspended and emphasized that only its recognized leadership could issue directives. The ministry's failure to implement agreements from a September 17 meeting, including the establishment of a committee and the release of concession documents, has further complicated the situation, leaving parents uncertain about school readiness.
